A Workshop for Theatre Artists and Educators: Building awareness between myself and others in the relational dynamic of gender.
When I am leading or working with groups, how do learned messages of gender – and my past experiences with boys or girls, or those who identify differently - affect how I see myself and others? What do I know about how I listen to others and to myself through a lens of what I have learned in my life about gender? How do these messages or images impact how I engage in relationship in the roles I take on as a leader, co-worker, fellow player or learner with others? This is a 2 1/2 day workshop for theatre artists/educators interested in exploring these topics.
We will use readings, free-writing, poetic text, theatre/movement exercises and discussion to investigate these questions. I will share what I have discovered from my own research on these topics, and the steps I have found to be foundational to the method I have formed integrating theatre and movement practices with developmental psychology, gender, and culture.
The workshop will be held in Studio 2, at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA.
Housing available through Shakespeare & Company. Registration is through The SAGE Center.
